Growing out of the Desert Cracks
The Tucson Buckets franchise is growing piece by piece. Putting our efforts into developing the most talented team we can with young men that reside and affect the Tucson community right now. After a successful 1st tryout this past weekend, we are confident that finding all the necessary tools and components to make up a highly competitive group of guys is at our finger tips. Tucson is full of knowledgeable basketball players and a strong youth basketball identity that is growing every year. The Tucson Buckets want to help push the movement even further. The tryout gave us an idea of how we can truly impact the city. Building something that resembles Tucson with diversity and grit. We want to honor the city with a team that competes for championships and players that reflect the positive side of the city.
Our goal is to help players get closer to their basketball dreams in whatever fashion that may be. The growth of this team will depend on our impact in the community. We have set it up in a way to provide opportunities for the youth in areas on and off the court. We will be opening up opportunities for volunteers and interns (some paid/ some for class credit). We have a responsibility to empower the youth in the city. Basketball is an escape for a lot of young men and women from all walks of the social spectrum and we cherish the opportunity to make a difference in that avenue.
We have high expectations from our players and staff. We are looking for players who are already committed to the community and/or are looking for an opportunity to be more in touch. We need hard workers and dedicated people in our staff and on our court. We will earn the respect of the city through our hard work and dedication to the city. Eventually finding our natural position as a beacon of positivity and entertainment as well. As we get closer to November keep your eyes open for our upcoming events and tryouts. If you are interested in an internship right now please contact us @ email@example.com #GetBuckets

Tryouts are around the corner and people have been contacting us about what exactly we will be looking for on June 20th. I will go in to more detail about the type of players we are looking for later but first I wanted to give aspiring players a list of what to do and what not to do at the tryout itself. This is an opportunity to make money as a basketball player, build your skills, and hopefully develop some film for bigger basketball opportunities in the future. Take it serious and don't come and waste your time or ours. We love this game and want to put a team of players together that feel the same.
· Arrive early and prepared so you can stretch and don't feel rushed.
· Don't focus on any other player.
· Don't try to interpret what the coaches are thinking or writing down. You may be way off.
· Don't try to do things you can't do. Do what you know how to and do it well.
· Work hard when you don't have the ball. Coaches will evaluate all aspects of your game.
· Forget any mistakes. Every player will make mistakes in tryouts and in game play. How you respond to those mistakes is more important to the coaches.
· Stay focused. During tryouts you are there to make a team, not friends. That part will come after the team is selected
Now that you know what to do at tryouts, I want to dive in to the personality of the players that we will be looking to bring into our organization. The Tucson Buckets believe in craft and putting your energy and effort into something until it becomes second nature. I really admire those who take pride in their craft. Basketball is a craft I have groomed my entire life, it is something I know up and down and can learn it over and over if I had too. My style of play is my craft and with the Tucson Buckets we have particular interest in craftsmen. Someone who looks at an opportunity as a chance to sharpen their skills and compete against fellow athletes respectfully and with pure competitiveness. The Tucson Buckets will represent the resilience of a city that is encased by a scorching desert.
We have had discussions about the type of players we want on the team as an organization and some key factors seem to always stand out. We are looking for players who can dedicate themselves to the team. Dedicate themselves to staying in shape and being a leader on and off the court. Basketball is a team sport and we are looking for players that can help us create the best chemistry and ultimately win an ABA Championship sooner than later.
Craft and skill go hand in hand. Tucson Bucket players will have the skill to compete with any team in this league. Our coaches will make it clear that we conduct ourselves like a business in all facets. We want to make this team into one of the greats and our players should be proud to wear the jersey. We want “gym rats,” I am talking players that sleep, eat and breathe basketball like the ownership and sponsors do. This is an opportunity to showcase the great talent that sleeps in Tucson so be certain we will take pride in every step of this process.
Our first tryout is June 20th at the Sporting Chance Center (2100 W Curtis Rd. Tucson, AZ). At the tryouts we will interview with the players as well as evaluate their game throughout the 4 hour period. The evaluation will be predominantly about basketball attributes, dribbling, shooting, defense, physical and basketball IQ. These things will determine how far you go with this team and if you make it. There will also be an interview process to go into more detail about your activity in the city prior to joining with the Tucson Buckets. We believe our players should be our partners in building this organization and the community. We want players that have business savvy and entrepreneurial ideals and/or have ties to the community already. Tucson Buckets will be a team created from the community we serve and our players should be a genuine reflection. We want true ballers, we are looking for players that illustrate the love of the game as well as respect for the business aspect.
The players should be ready to be a name in the community. We have an ambitious Community Outreach program that we hope will impact the youth in our city as positive as possible. To do that we will need all hands available for the building process. We expect great things and look forward to meeting the best players in the city!!! Luv
As the Founder of the Tucson Buckets I have worked diligently this last year or so putting together a strategy that will help us succeed as much as possible. The chess moves and sacrifices we have made has been all worth it and watching the events unfold over the last few months has been nothing but inspiring. I had the opportunity to sit down and have a conversation about our vision with HWP Media. Check it out and Share it. Buckets are coming!!! #GetBuckets
